For the Level 10 Meeting’s Issues List:
Are we on the right issue?
- Is it something we really need to address? Does it involve our Vision/Traction Organizer (VTO) or our Customer Journey or Employee Journey?
- Have you tried to solve it? Surprisingly, executives bring issues to the table that they could solve themselves if they had taken the initiative. Leaders get paid for making decisions, so act your wage!
- Who can solve it, and have you talked to that person? Most issues don’t need the executive team’s deliberation and can be worked out in tandem with another team member.
- What do you need from a conversation about this topic? Do you need a decision, or do you just want to share information? Clarifying your objective will help you avoid tangents and solve the issue faster.

Choose issues that ...
- Will prevent completion of Quarterly Rocks if not addressed.
- Will keep us from hitting our weekly Scorecard numbers if not addressed.
- Truly require the thinking power and expertise of everyone in the room.
- Require a decision to be made.
- Are “The ONE Thing”: The one thing, such that if we tackle this topic, it makes everything else easier or even unnecessary.
- Will strengthen the company at the core: Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process, Traction
For Preparing Your Issues List for a Quarterly Planning Session:
1. What obstacles will slow or stop our Rock completion in the next 90 days?

Tip 1: Most obstacles involve not having the Right People in the Right Seats doing the Right Things. You’ve got to name names. Remember, open and honest.
Tip 2: Processes will make up most of the rest of your list. A process failed; a process wasn’t documented; someone skipped steps in the process.
2. What opportunities should we look at pursuing—maybe in the next 90 days, maybe later?

3. What intel would you like to share with the team to set us up for a great 90 days of executing our plan?
