If you're the one for answers, approvals, problem solving, and key relationships, you are at the center of everything. Your business depends on you, and that limits your options to grow aggressively, sell on your own terms, or keep the business and leave the grind.
This four-week Jump Start helps you start getting out of the center by making and protecting the decisions that reduce owner dependence. You’ll make meaningful transfers of the roles, decisions, knowledge, and relationships that are holding you at the center.

Taught and led by Dr. John Fulwider, with a small group of fellow business owners.
Each one-hour weekly Zoom includes two parts:
15 to 20 minutes of learning: I teach one practical lesson on reducing owner dependence in your business.
25 minutes of live PDQ coaching: Two owners each week get focused, real-time help applying that week’s lesson to a live challenge in their business.
Using my PDQ framework, we work through:
Problem: What Problem are you trying to solve?
Decision: What Decision do you need to make to solve it?
Question: What Question do you need answered before you can make that decision?
Even when you are not the one being coached, you will learn by applying the same framework to your own business and watching fellow owners apply it to theirs.
I help founding business owners get out of the center of everything so their companies can run, grow, and become more valuable without depending on them.
The work involves transferring roles, decisions, knowledge, and relationships out of the owner's head and hands and into the business. This frees them up to grow aggressively, sell on their terms, or keep the business and leave the grind.
I bring:
You don’t need more pressure.
You need better structure, better decisions, and fewer things that only you can do.

I didn’t just get what I was looking for from what I shared. I actually learned from hearing other owners work through their situations. I was taking notes and seeing how the same ideas applied to my business, so I could create a system for it. The iron-sharpening-iron mindset was very beneficial.
What we did in the Jump Start was practical enough that I can take it back and use it with my own staff. It helped me generate better questions and identify problems that will be valuable to work through in the business.
Donnie Burchfield, owner, Family Life Counseling Center

The Get Out of the Center Jump Start was really beneficial. ‘Jump Start’ is a great way to describe it because it gave me a framework to start thinking through decisions, goals, and creating goals with my team. I have a lot of places to go with this now.
Arón Bautista, owner, Austin Center for Therapy and Assessment

I was trying to figure out a way to get out of doing everything in my business. I was chief everything officer, and I knew I needed to get out of the day-to-day. It just kept pulling me back in. I knew that's not sustainable. Now I've seen new light from people I didn't consider before who have really stepped up. They possess our core values, and they have the potential to play leadership roles. I didn't recognize that before, and it's really been a wonderful thing.
Reuben Ayoub, owner, TLC Rents

"John has high emotional intelligence, and he's not afraid—like me—to ask the hard questions and tell people, in a nice way, what they need to work through. I've referred clients to John, and he's doing wonderful work in the business transitions space. The biggest problem business owners have is that they're too involved in their own business—and John has solutions for that."
Jeff Herdzina, President, ExitBig

I deeply trust your intuition and guidance. I like how you think. I like your joy.
You help me tame the chaos of the day-to-day business demands and help me create structure.
Evonne Noble, exited owner, Puget Sound Psychotherapy & Psychiatry

Kerry Oliver, owner, Oliver Kitchens & Baths

The sabbatical I took was life changing. It was profoundly healing and clarifying to take that much time away. John helped me get out of the center of everything.
Erin Wiley, owner, The Willow Center

I think you're exceptional. Just in the last six months my level of satisfaction with life has increased 70-80% and it’s a result of little changes we have made in here.
Troy Bridgford, owner, Ironhide Construction

After a child, every minute on the business is a minute away from my kid. Every minute became valuable and that’s why I’m not afraid to spend money.

This not having to deal with the day to day of our company, and finding significant time to work on visionary opportunities, oh, it’s liberating. It feels like I’m never rushed.
Tyler Samuelson, owner, Summit Contracting

Your ability to spot what it is that really needs to be tackled, and tackle it, is pretty phenomenal. I appreciate you reading between the lines. It’s huge for me.

Stop Being the Only One Who Knows: Transfer knowledge so critical know-how stops living only in your head.
Stop Being the Hub of Key Relationships: Transfer key relationships so clients, referral sources, and partners learn to work through your business, not just through you.
